The National Child Mortality Database (NCMD) is making some changes to how cases are recorded in the reporting systems used by child death review professionals. The updates described on this page will be deployed in both eCDOP and the NCMD portal on 14 October 2022.

Improvements to how contributory factors are recorded

We are introducing some changes to the way contributory factors are recorded in the analysis form, in both eCDOP and the NCMD portal, to improve data quality. This will help data analysis both locally and nationally, and ensure that data on contributory factors can be reliably analysed.

Details of these changes, together with a guidance document for child death overview panels (CDOPs) to use in child death review and CDOP meetings, can be found here:

Other changes in this release

Some smaller changes have also been made to some of the statutory data collection forms. These are detailed in the October 2022 Release Notes for CDOPs.

The updated paper forms are available to download from the DHSC website
