In this free webinar, we will explore NCMD’s report on children with a learning disability and autistic children who have died.

The latest NCMD thematic report focuses on deaths of children with a learning disability and autistic children aged 4-17 years. The report includes learning identified to reduce the number of children who die. In this webinar, information from the report will be shared, alongside contributions from those close to the topic in lived experience and academic contexts. There will be an opportunity to ask the panel questions, with the aim of increasing awareness of the causes of, and ways to prevent deaths of children with learning disabilities and autistic children.

Speakers for this event will include Vicky Sleap from NCMD, Dr Jo Pavlopoulou from UCL, and a parent with lived experience of child death.

Aims of this webinar

  • to understand modifiable factors that can help prevent child deaths
  • to raise awareness of relevant research
  • to raise awareness of the emotional impact on family members who have experienced a child death.
