Thursday 21st October 2021, 1:00 – 1:30pm (online)

We invite you to join a short online lecture to launch the Suicide in Children and Young People Thematic Report 2021, which is currently projected to be published on 14th October 2021 (although this date may be subject to change).

NCMD Programme Lead Professor Karen Luyt will share key findings from the report, which includes analysis of deaths that were assessed as highly likely or moderately likely to be due to suicide where the child or young person died between 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020, and an analysis of deaths categorised as suicide by a child death overview panel (CDOP), that were reviewed within the same dates. The report aims to identify the common characteristics of children and young people who die by suicide, investigate factors associated with these deaths, and identify common themes to help inform policymakers, commissioners, those providing services to children and young people, and those involved in reviewing deaths of children and young people. It also aims to contribute to the existing evidence base in this area to inform ongoing and future research into the mental health of children and young people.

Attendance is free and open to all. Please register in advance, and add the calendar invitation in your confirmation email to your diary.
