This conference presentation uses real-time data on the deaths of children in England during the Covid-19 pandemic to assess child mortality during the period.

There is an urgent need to understand the effect of Covid-19 on illness and mortality in children. This presentation, first shared at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) annual conference in June 2021, draws conclusions from the unique data held in the National Child Mortality Database (NCMD). It was subsequently published in BMJ’s Archives of Disease in Childhood.

As part of the presentation at the RCPCH annual conference, the NCMD team also shared this informative poster which visualises some of the data under discussion.
