**Update 10 June 2021: NCMD’s second annual report is available online here**

The second National Child Mortality Database (NCMD) annual report will include data from the first year of the child death review national data collection in England. Projected to be published on our website on 10 June, it will provide descriptive analysis of the characteristics of children’s deaths between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2020. It will also include further information from completed child death reviews during the same period, providing insights to learn lessons and support improved outcomes for children in the future.

In addition, and for the first time since the start of the child death review process in 2008, modifiable factors related to children’s deaths have been analysed on a national scale. These will also be included in this report, and will enable the sector to identify key areas for improvement.

How to get the report: When published, this report will be shared on the publications section of this website. To receive an update when it is available, sign up to our mailing list.

Date for your diary: An online event to disseminate the findings from this report will be held on 22 June from 1-2pm. Invitations will be sent out by the end of May (please contact us by email if you do not receive an invitation by this date, but would like to attend). More information on all NCMD webinars and online events can be found here.
