NCMD’s first webinar, 28 November 2019

We were delighted with attendance at our very first webinar on Thursday 28 November 2019, with over 60 child death professionals taking part. Hosted by UCL Partners and presented by one of NCMD’s Managers, Vicky Sleap, the webinar was a useful opportunity for us to provide detailed updates on the programme and share what we have learned so far including:

  • Approximately 94% of CDOPs have submitted a case to NCMD so far
  • Over 3,500 cases have now been submitted to NCMD (this includes on-going reviews at 1 April 2019 and deaths since that date)
  • Supplementary reporting forms were completed for 72% of deaths since 1 April 2019 – which we hope will better inform CDOP discussions and our ability to learn from these deaths.

This webinar – the first in a series – also proved to be a very useful way to share information about our data quality strategy as well as gain a better understanding of the challenges faced when using the system – for example, grading contributory factors. All feedback will be collated and used to inform our work going forward.
